Introduction to macroscopic power scaling principles for high-order harmonic generation

چکیده
This tutorial presents an introduction to power scaling concepts for high-order harmonic generation (HHG) and attosecond pulse production. We present an overview of state-of-the-art HHG-based extreme ultraviolet (XUV) sources, followed by a brief introduction to basic principles underlying HHG and a detailed discussion of macroscopic effects and scaling principles. Particular emphasis is put on a general scaling model that allows the invariant scaling of the HHG process both, to μJ-level driving laser pulses and thus to multi-MHz repetition rates as well as to 100 mJ-or even Joule-level laser pulses, allowing new intensity regimes with attosecond XUV pulses.

Time Frequency Analysis of Higher Harmonic Generation in a Three Color Laser Pulse
high harmonic generation is a useful tool for the generation of short, intense attosecond pulses. In order to simulate high harmonic generation, we performed a numerical solution to the time dependent Schrödinger equation. by considering dipole approximation, we predicted generation of a 53 attosecond pulse. In order to see the time and frequency of emission of attosecond pulse, we exploit...
متن کاملComment on "Universality of returning electron wave packet in high-order harmonic generation with midinfrared laser pulses".
We show that a returning electron wave packet in high-order harmonic generation (HHG) with midinfrared laser pulses converges to a universal limit for a laser wavelength above about 3 μm. The results are consistent among the different methods: a numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, the strong-field approximation, and the quantum orbits theory. We further analyze how th...
متن کاملAnalytic description of the high-energy plateau in harmonic generation by atoms: can the harmonic power increase with increasing laser wavelengths?
A closed-form analytic formula for high-order harmonic generation (HHG) rates for atoms (that generalizes an HHG formula for negative ions [M. V. Frolov, J. Phys. We predict increases of the harmonic power for HHG by Ar, Kr,...

متن کاملMacroscopic manipulation of high-order-harmonic generation through bound-state coherent control.
We propose a paradigm for macroscopic control of high-order harmonic generation by modulating the bound-state population of the medium atoms. A unique result of this scheme is that apart from regular spatial quasi-phase-matching (QPM), also purely temporal QPM of the emitted radiation can be established. Our simulations demonstrate temporal QPM by inducing homogenous Rabi oscillations in the me...
